State-of-the-Art DEXA whole body scanning system accurately measures lean, fat and bone mass for the whole body and individual regions.
If you're serious about your fitness or weight-loss program, you need to have a baseline with which to assess your progress...and body composition scanning using DEXA will give you exactly the start you need!
DEXA is significantly more accurate than underwater weighing, Bodpod, bioelectrical impedance and skinfold (calipers) measurement, and uses significantly less radiation than CT scanning.
This technology provides the best solution for people wanting highly accurate body composition information to assist with their fitness training or weight-loss program.
Along with advice from your personal trainer, dietitian or exercise physiologist, a DEXA Body Composition Scan will help you achieve your goals!
Many professional athletes and sporting teams around Australia use DEXA body composition scanning as an integral part of their elite player training programs. The results can then be used to monitor the progress of each individual player, allowing their program to be separately modified to produce optimum results for maximum performance.

Here is a sample of the Body Composition report.
From this we can tell you your lean and fat mass by area, weight and percentage.
We can tell you what your visceral fat percentage is, which is a good indicator of your risk of things like heart disease, diabetes and metabolic disorder.
And we can look at your bone density.
Perhaps most importantly each time you have a scan done, you will be able to accurately track change, and see immediately if your diet and exercise regime are working for you.

Body mass index (BMI) is a simple index of weight-for-height that is commonly used to classify overweight and obesity in adults. It is defined as a persons weight in kilograms divided by the square of their height in meters (kg/m2).
The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines overweight as a BMI greater than or equal to 25, and obesity as a BMI greater than or equal to 30. (A BMI of 30 is about 14kgs overweight.)
WHO explains that BMI provides the most useful population-level measure of overweight and obesity as it is the same for both sexes and for all ages of adults.
Note however that muscular people generally have a high BMI but are perfectly healthy!
BMI as calculated by the WHO is displayed on your Body Composition Analysis report, but as explained is of limited value compared to the BCA.
